Fund Match: Sector Equity Alternative Energy

The geopolitical instability in Middle East and Japan’s earthquake and nuclear disasters touched off the worry of energy crisis, and this paved the way for growing interest of alternative energy.

The oil price was moving up starting from 2011. In early May, crude oil price climbed above USD 110 per barrel, which was fuelled by the geopolitical instability in Middle East region. On the other hand, Japan’s earthquake and nuclear disasters also touched off the worry of energy crisis. All these aroused the investors’ interest over alternative energy. Sector Equity Alternative Energy funds category rose 10.48% in one year. This week we have BGF New Energy Fund and Pictet - Clean Energy Fund for comparison.
